Post-Traumatic Stress

services

Sometimes after we experience trauma, our bodies don’t register that we are safe and the trauma has ended. Polarity therapy is very successful in helping unravel trauma stored in the body’s tissues. As a Polarity Practitioner, I work directly with your nervous system by assessing your energetic pathways and allowing them to release blockages through acupressure, chakra balancing, craniosacral therapy, gentle rocking and joint mobilization. Guiding the body’s energetic currents back to their smooth, natural state helps to release physical coping patterns that no longer serve you so you can move into a more balanced and integrated state. Our work supports your body in progressing through the difficult emotions that surface with post-traumatic stress by aiding relaxation and keeping your systems and energy currents fluid. Massage can also release muscular tension that develops in times of stress, reminding the body how to rest and heal. Sometimes strong emotions or memories can emerge during bodywork, which is a natural part of the body’s healing process for many people. It is okay to cry or experience strong emotions during massage. I ask that clients who are currently living with Post-Traumatic Stress have access to a trained counselor, and I am happy to help you find a good match if needed.

“Post-traumatic stress creates such daunting fear and heart-stopping distress that it produces legions of heroes, whose every day is a test of their mettle, commitment, and courage.”
— Belleruth Naparstek, Invisible Heroes
“Kristy helped me feel safe — and even good — in my body again. I breathe deeper, sleep more soundly, and feel so nurtured after our sessions.”
